Build a useful daily relationship routine

Turn your connected assistant into a practical aid for birthdays, overdue follow-ups, meeting preparation and useful notes.

Updated October 10, 2026 · ppl team

You do not need a dashboard full of scores to be a better friend or colleague. You need to remember a few things at the right time: whose birthday is coming, which promise you made, and who has been on your mind for weeks.

Once you have connected your assistant to ppl, give it a modest routine. A short, accurate briefing is easier to act on than a long list of every person you know.

Start the day with one read

Read my ppl briefing. Pick up to three items worth my attention today:
a birthday, an overdue follow-up, or someone I said I wanted to contact.
Explain why each appears. Do not edit records or send messages.

Check dates and overdue tasks before acting. A reconnect suggestion is a prompt to consider someone, not evidence that a relationship is in trouble. If the suggestion is inappropriate, leave it alone. Your judgment should determine who gets your time.

You can ask this in a conversation whenever you want. A daily delivery needs a configured schedule; adding an MCP server alone does not create one. The Python briefing guide is useful if you already run scheduled scripts.

Read before a conversation

Find Morgan in ppl. Ask me to choose if the name is ambiguous.
Read the recent notes and open tasks. Give me a short preparation note
for our call, with no guesses presented as facts.

Look for something you would naturally ask about: a move, a project, a family event, a promised introduction. Keep the summary useful enough to glance at before the call. You should not need to rehearse a dossier.

Save the part worth remembering

After the call, tell your assistant what happened in your own words. Include when it happened and what you agreed to do. Ask it to show the proposed note and task, then approve what belongs in the record.

I spoke with Morgan today. We agreed I would send the introduction
next Tuesday. Show me a short note and a proposed follow-up task.
Confirm the date and the contact before saving.

Do not record a guess about someone’s feelings as fact. If you misunderstood something, correct the note rather than adding another conflicting one. Useful relationship memory is a record you can trust.

Keep messages deliberate

Ask for a draft when you want help finding the words. Read it before sending. Connecting an assistant to ppl gives it the approved permissions; it does not make every suggested message appropriate. ppl’s connected messaging also has recipient approval controls. Respect those rather than trying to route around a denied first message.

Do a small weekly cleanup

Review open tasks and close the ones you actually finished. Correct an obvious duplicate after checking both records. Decide which contacts need a reminder and which do not. Five minutes of maintenance can keep the next briefing useful.

Start with the client you already use: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Copilot in VS Code. The goal is a dependable habit you can keep, with enough help to make staying in touch easier.

If you prefer planning on paper, use the free weekly follow-up worksheet. For a routine inside your assistant, customize the ppl instructions before adding them to your client.
