ppl ppl

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

ppl is where your agent's memory of your people lives, so it survives across sessions, agents, and AI providers.

How do I start?

Sign up free. Free during beta. Up to 1,000 contacts. No credit card. Then Connect your AI. You approve once. If you can use email, you can use ppl. Nothing to install.

Why not just let my AI agent remember people on its own?

Three reasons: persistence, structure, and oversight.

Persistence. An agent's memory is tied to a conversation or a provider. Switch from Claude to ChatGPT, start a fresh session, or build a custom agent, and that memory is gone or fragmented. ppl is the durable layer underneath. Every agent reads from the same source of truth.

Structure. Agent memory is prose: "Sarah likes hiking." ppl is structured data: contact fields, timestamped interactions, computed health scores, duplicate detection. When your agent asks "who haven't I talked to in 60 days," it gets a real answer from a query, not a guess from fuzzy recall.

Oversight. You can open ppl and see exactly what your agent knows about your people. You can correct it, add to it, or delete it. With pure agent memory, you have no idea what's stored or whether it's right.

What does my agent actually do with ppl?

The loop is simple: read before acting, write after acting. Before your agent drafts a message or answers a question about someone, it pulls their digest from ppl. After any interaction, it logs what happened. ppl computes relationship health, surfaces who needs attention, and tells the agent the single highest-leverage action to take right now.

Do I have to manually enter everything?

No. That's the point. Connect Gmail and Google Calendar and interactions log themselves. Import your contacts from CSV or Google Contacts in one click. Your agent logs interactions as they happen. Manual entry is the fallback, not the workflow.

What happens if I switch AI assistants?

Nothing breaks. Your data lives in ppl, not in the assistant. Connect the new assistant and it picks up where the last one left off, with full history. Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor can share the same people.

How is this different from a regular CRM?

Regular CRMs are built for sales teams and manual data entry. ppl is built for one person and their AI agent. No pipelines, no lead scoring, no seats. Just people, relationships, and an API your agent actually wants to use.

Who owns my data?

You do. Export everything anytime. ppl is hosted at withppl.com. There is no downloadable server. We don't sell data, and your relationships are never shared with other ppl users.

Is my data private from other ppl users?

Yes. Every account is fully isolated. No shared contacts, no social graph, no "people you may know." Your people are yours.

What does the agent see vs. what do I see?

The same data, through different doors. You get the dashboard: birthdays, reconnect prompts, health cards. Your agent gets the API: briefings, semantic search, digests, suggested actions. Scoped API keys mean you control exactly what your agent can read and write.

How much does it cost?

Free during beta. Up to 1,000 contacts. No credit card. Sign up free. Pro will be $8/month and is not for sale yet. See pricing. ppl is hosted-only.

What if I stop using ppl?

Export your data and leave. It's yours.

Do I need a technical background to use this?

No. Sign up, then connect your agent. The one-click setup handles the technical parts.
