ppl vs. Umfeld: two hosted personal CRMs with MCP
Compare ppl and Umfeld for hosted MCP access, relationship records, and what each product publishes about connecting an assistant.

Umfeld and ppl are both hosted personal CRMs with an MCP server. Umfeld's site says it turns Google Contacts into a relationship graph and hands that graph to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and compatible remote MCP clients. ppl keeps the relationship record in ppl and connects the assistant you already use. What Umfeld publishes
Umfeld's AI page says the product syncs Google Contacts in both directions and adds a relationship graph, an interaction log, life events, tags, and a health score for connections that are cooling off. It says private entries are excluded from MCP access. The homepage says writes can flow back to Google Contacts, and that access is scoped OAuth you can revoke. Umfeld publishes the MCP address https://api.umfeld.app/mcp, secured with OAuth. Its AI page says about 58 tools sit behind that server, including search contacts, contact details, create relationships, log interactions, find cooling contacts, and search notes by meaning. The same page says the server is hosted in Europe, like the rest of the product, and that you do not need a separate AI subscription from Umfeld.
Umfeld's homepage says the plan is free for 7 days, then 6 euros a month, with no per-contact limits. The ChatGPT connection page also lists 60 euros a year. Check the live pricing page before you rely on either figure. See the current plan.
What ppl publishes
ppl's hosted MCP server is https://withppl.com/mcp, with OAuth. It publishes 120 tools and works with Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, and compatible remote MCP clients. An authorized agent can read briefings, person digests, and memory search, and can write notes, tasks, reminders, calls, gifts, and journal entries. ppl is hosted only. There is no self-hosted version. Google Contacts import is optional and is not required to use the record. See ppl's setup.
Compare the record, not the slogan
Try each product with two people you know. Log one conversation, ask the assistant who you last spoke with, and open the record in the browser to confirm the answer. Then check the parts that differ on the public pages: Umfeld's relationship graph and Google Contacts sync, and ppl's briefings, gifts, journal, and web app. Use the product whose records match the follow-ups you actually keep.
