ppl vs. folk: a personal record or a team CRM for your AI?

folk and ppl can both sit next to an AI assistant, and they are aimed at different work. folk's current site and help center describe a CRM for teams and their agents, with shared records, pipelines, and outreach. ppl is a personal CRM for one person's relationships. folk's hosted MCP server
folk publishes a hosted MCP server at https://mcp.folk.app/mcp using Streamable HTTP and OAuth. Its developer docs say the server works with assistants including Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, ChatGPT, and Claude Desktop, and that a connected tool can read and write the workspace within the signed-in person's permissions. The same overview says an assistant can search people, companies, and groups; create and update contacts, notes, and custom fields; move deals through pipelines; and generate relationship summaries and pipeline updates. folk's help article on connecting Claude also lists Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor, and repeats the same endpoint. Where ppl is different
ppl does not keep a sales pipeline. It keeps a personal record: contacts, notes, birthdays, reminders, tasks, calls, gifts, and journal entries. The hosted MCP server is https://withppl.com/mcp, with OAuth. It publishes 120 tools and works with Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, and compatible remote MCP clients. An authorized agent can read briefings, person digests, and memory search, and can write notes, tasks, reminders, calls, gifts, and journal entries. ppl is hosted only. There is no self-hosted version. See ppl's setup.
Which question to answer first
If you need a shared team workspace, deals, and sequences, read folk's current docs and try those workflows. If you want one personal record that several assistants can use after you approve them, try ppl with a few people and a note you can check. A successful connection is not a reason to grant every permission either product offers.
