ppl vs. Clay, now Mesh: what to compare

Clay now redirects to Mesh. Compare its current relationship management approach with ppl’s hosted personal CRM and assistant connection.

Updated October 10, 2026 · ppl team

If you searched for Clay’s personal CRM, its current website takes you to Mesh. That matters when reviewing older comparisons: a description of a past Clay release may not explain the product available now. This page compares the current public information with ppl. Mesh emphasizes gathering and refreshing a network

Mesh describes contact organization, relationship reminders, updates and tools for teams. Its integrations catalog includes email, calendars, social sources, address-book syncing and ChatGPT. This is the personal relationship product formerly reached through clay.earth, not Clay’s separate sales-data product at clay.com. See Mesh’s product overview and its integrations catalog.

ppl keeps the relationship record close at hand

In ppl, you can keep contact details, birthdays, conversation notes and follow-ups in the web app. An assistant you authorize can work with that same account over MCP or REST. For someone who already uses an assistant to prepare for a meeting or remember a promise, the useful question is whether that connection makes the next conversation easier. See ppl’s assistant connection.

Mesh lists a ChatGPT integration. Check the exact client, permissions and actions that each product supports for your intended routine.

Individual records or a shared team network?

For a solo evaluation, start with five people and a real week of work. Record something after a conversation and see whether it is easy to retrieve later. For a team evaluation, add the questions that matter to shared data: who can read a record, who can change it and how an introduction is approved. A convenient personal workflow is not proof of suitable team controls.

ppl’s current hosted beta is free for up to 1,000 contacts. Pro and the self-hosted version are coming soon. If you require a particular team feature or a native app, verify it before deciding. Review ppl’s current offer.

Before transferring anything

Keep an untouched copy of your source data, then check the fields in your export. ppl’s CSV import maps seven contact fields; it does not reconstruct a whole social feed or team history. The CSV preparation guide explains the supported fields and a small test import.
