Use ppl with Windsurf and Cascade
Configure the hosted ppl MCP server for Cascade, authorize your account, and choose which relationship tools to use.
Updated October 10, 2026 · ppl team
Cascade can use your ppl relationship record to help you prepare for a call or keep track of a promise. The hosted connection uses the same ppl account you use in the browser; there is no local ppl server to run.
Add a remote MCP entry
Open Cascade’s MCP settings and its configuration file. In the Cascade panel, open the Actions menu, then Open MCP config file. Use the file your installed client opens. The current documentation gives ~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json for macOS and Linux in Devin Desktop; older Windsurf installations can use a different location. Merge ppl into the existing mcpServers object:
{
"mcpServers": {
"ppl": {
"serverUrl": "https://withppl.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Refresh the server list, enable ppl, and complete its OAuth browser authorization. Review the requested access before approving. The official Cascade MCP documentation now redirects to Devin Desktop’s documentation and describes remote HTTP configuration using serverUrl or url. This configuration applies to legacy Cascade. Devin Local, the default agent for new tabs in Devin Desktop, uses a different configuration; follow its own setup instructions.
Choose the tools you need
Cascade’s documented limit is 100 active tools across servers. ppl exposes a broad tool set, so disable tools you do not need or other servers if you hit that limit. Begin with relationship reads rather than enabling unattended changes. For your first request, ask Cascade to retrieve the briefing and compare it with your account:
Read my ppl briefing. Summarize upcoming birthdays and open follow-ups.
Do not update contacts or tasks, and do not send messages.
If a briefing has no entries, try looking up a known contact. If authorization failed, Cascade should report that instead of claiming there is nothing to do.
Make a small, useful update
Use a specific contact and a specific fact. “Pat is moving in November” is a useful note if Pat actually told you that. A prediction about Pat’s interests or feelings belongs in your conversation, not in their record as an established fact.
Find Pat in ppl and ask me to identify the right contact if necessary.
Show me a note saying that Pat plans to move in November. Ask before
saving it. Do not change any other details.
Troubleshoot without exposing credentials
Check the endpoint spelling, whether the server is enabled, and whether authorization completed. Teams can restrict MCP servers through administrative controls. If another server works but ppl does not, inspect the connection status and permissions before altering unrelated settings. Keep tokens out of committed files or screenshots of your configuration.
Use the daily routine once your first read works. Disable or remove the server in Cascade when needed, and revoke its token in ppl’s Settings > API to end access to your account.
